Of all hotels in the world, Cameron Lynde, Assistant District Attorney, had to pick the one where a murder would be committed, to spend the night whilst her newly finished flooring is drying. Her previous two books Just the Sexiest Man Alive and Practice Makes Perfect are nearly pitch perfect romantic comedies and I love, love, loooooove them. Boy, can this woman write fan-tas-tic dialogue and captivating characters. If there is someone who can make me not only wait anxiously to read one and end up enjoying it so much as to ask for an encore!, that person would be: Julie James. I don’t read a lot of Contemporary Romance and read even less Romance of the Suspense variety. Why did I read this book: I am a huge fan of Julie James’ books, especially Practice Makes Perfect which was my favorite Contemporary Romance last year. That is, if they can cut back on the razor-sharp jibes-and smother the flame of their sizzling-hot sexual tension… But it’s no joke: the pair is going to have to put their rocky past behind them and focus on the case at hand. Work with Cameron Lynde? Are they kidding? Maybe, Jack thinks, this is some kind of welcome-back prank after his stint away from Chicago. The same Jack Pallas who still blames Cameron for a botched crackdown three years ago-and nearly ruining his career… And of all the FBI agents in Illinois, it had to be Special Agent Jack Pallas who gets assigned to this high-profile homicide.
